ABOUT LOVEDEN

Loveden is located broadly to the North of Grantham and includes the villages from :

Barkstone, Belton, Brandon, Brant Broughton, Carlton Scroop, Caythorpe, Claypole, Dry Doddington, Fenton, Foston, Fulbeck, Gelston, Honnington, Hough on the Hill, Leadenham, Long Bennington, Marston, Normanton, Stragglethorpe, Stubton, Syston and Westborough.

Loveden is a deanery of the Diocese of Lincoln, England,and a former Wapentake.

A Wapentake was the equivalent of the Anglo-Saxon hundred in the northern Danelaw. In the Domesday Book, the term is used instead of hundreds in Yorkshire, the Five Boroughs of Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham and Stamford, and also sometimes in Northamptonshire.
